I like to bake it bake it!

I've been cooking up a storm friends! A very very delicious storm.
We had a surprise party for one of our intern friends, Chris (who's from England, and yes, he does have a fantastic accent). So I cooked up a few goodies, including homemade sausage rolls and party pies, cupcakes and a brownie.

Here they are fresh out of the oven

I threw on a fancy little parsley garnish for the pic (but don't get too excited, that's as fancy as I get folks)

Homemade party pies, homemade! Does that get anyone else excited? No? Just me? Alrighty then. Well they're super dooper easy, and really yummy, and overall I feel like quite a success really. (Pie recipe here, Sausage Roll recipe here)

I had a bit of fun playing with an icing pen that I picked up from supermarket, it was really easy to use! And maybe a little addictive..

I tried a new frosting recipe, and it's called the "the best frosting I've ever had", so really it set me up with high expectations from the start. But I gave it a go, and yes it is very yummy frosting! I probably haven't eaten enough frosting in my life to officially crown it as the best, but it's certainly rating well.
It has a great consistency, which I think comes from the flour (I know, weirdest ingredient in frosting ever - by the way, don't taste the frosting after step one when it's still just a hot milk/flour goo, it does not taste good..), so that helped with decorating the cupcakes (and eating, of course). And it was relatively simple to make as well. Except for the awkward time when you have to wait for the milk/flour goo to cool down, and the classic "will-any-amount-of-whipping-this-ever-get-it-to-look-like-the-picture" moment. But it gets there people, and it's good. So give it a go! (Recipe used found here, via here, and originally here.)
I ended up leaving the cupcakes plain with the white frosting for the party, and I put cute tiny British Flags in them, as a little cupcake-shout-out to Chris' homeland. (Which silly, silly me did not capture a pic of.. soz). And there were a huge hit!

So success in the kitchen department was had for all! (Except maybe for the shameful brownie.. it was a packet mix and it came out looking all crazy and shrunken, not exactly picture worthy. But it still tasted like delicious brownie, so I'm gonna count that as a win.)
